The user option menu drop down menu. The little arrow to activate the menu disappears when I click on forums.

The main menu icon where I interact the the system is only available after I click on my email address and the main menu bar goes away. It would be helpful to it included in the top menu bar so I can check the faq while using the system.

I noticed I can not add a book until I have added at least one series. Not sure if that is a feature or bug.

It would be nice to have the add <whatever> button visible on the actual page instead of having to go back to the menu drop down each time. Next the search icon would be good.

I'm not allow to choose <no series> when adding a book. It gives an error.

After creating a book with the series and I go to look at the list of books, none of them have series linked and I have to manually add them again.

I can only add series as links to plotlines and not books (no books are listed for the drag and drop).

So I added some characters and notebooks and linked books and series to them, but when I goto the list of books all I see linked are the series.

What I was expecting was to goto the list of books and be able to open up a book and see all the things I've linked to it. If there were links to chapters (either in an external editor like google docs or an internal editor) that would be great.

When I add books and series to characters I see all the links so that works.

As far as the character sheets I'm interested in seeing their personality traits. Strengths, weaknesses holding them back, goals, what their stakes are and how they relate to other characters. A list of tropes the character falls into would be nice. If actual chapters could be linked an index of which pages the particular character appeared on would be helpful too.

I tested this with firefox in ubuntu and with chrome on a chromebook.

Thanks for working on this.

All right some of what we have here is bugs, some is intended functionality, and I see one good suggestion that I will add to the feature lists.

  • The user option menu drop down menu. The little arrow to activate the menu disappears when I click on forums.
    • This is intended functionality.  I didn't feel like the menus for the secure sections of the website were needed in the forums.
  • It would be helpful to it included in the top menu bar so I can check the faq while using the system.
    • Not sure I'm getting what you're asking for here.  In the forums the FAQ link is displayed at the top of the page.  If you would just like it added to one of the internal menus that is easy to fix that I was considering anyway.
  • I noticed I can not add a book until I have added at least one series. Not sure if that is a feature or bug.
    • Definite bug.  The system is designed to be as flexible as possible when making entries so they don't depend on other things so this is definitely something you should be able to do.
  • It would be nice to have the add <whatever> button visible on the actual page instead of having to go back to the menu drop down each time. Next the search icon would be good.
    • I considered this when building the software and decided against it for one main reason.  If software functionality expands I'd like to keep all of the singular functions in one place.  When I say singular functions I mean functions that are not related to already entered data.  So I can't put say the edit buttons for each individual thing in the list on the main menu those have to go in the list, but for things that are hidden in flyouts that are one offs like adding a new book, series, etc those go in the menu.  So while I could do what you are suggesting without much trouble I feel like it could make the UI a little more cluttered and confusing down the road.
  • I'm not allow to choose <no series> when adding a book. It gives an error.
    • Will look into this, but I can't immediately reproduce it.
  • I can only add series as links to plotlines and not books (no books are listed for the drag and drop).
    • I can't seem to reproduce this one.  My guess is that the mechanic of the function is to only show books that are not part of a series.  So if you have all of your books linked to a series that is why it only shows series in the list.  It functions this way because once you link a plotline to a series the plot points can be linked to any book in that series.
  • What I was expecting was to goto the list of books and be able to open up a book and see all the things I've linked to it. If there were links to chapters (either in an external editor like google docs or an internal editor) that would be great.
    • This is an interesting idea but I never meant for this tool to house the entirety of someone's work.  Linking displays like the one you are describing are a definite possibility, but I have never successfully designed one that made me feel like it it was terribly useful.
  • As far as the character sheets I'm interested in seeing their personality traits. Strengths, weaknesses holding them back, goals, what their stakes are and how they relate to other characters. A list of tropes the character falls into would be nice. If actual chapters could be linked an index of which pages the particular character appeared on would be helpful too.
    • Character information is based on Breed.  Breeds have an unlimited number of fields so there is no limit to what any given character can really have related to them.  This is the one part of the system that uses a trickle down model.  You have to make breeds to make characters, but I did it like this because I wanted people to be able to make characters without any limits on the details they could enter.

Just wanted to bump this since I realized the e-mail notifications weren't working and I wanted you to see this!

I've fixed a few things, and would love to discuss further with you.  If you know anyone else who might want to help me test this I would appreciate it if you passed it around!

Thanks again for the input!
